I've had some Maxtor drives die: one 40gb drive was two months past its
three year warranty, one 13gb drive was less than a week old when it
started acting up.

I'm going to start looking for Seagate drives myself now, the 5 year
warranty inspires confidence.  Too bad I didn't act quick enough, they
were selling Seagate 160gb SATA drives at CompUSA for $40 AR through
last week.
