That's what always worries me about my disks.  For every brand I've had that's 
been running for a few years, someone has personally experienced multiple 
failures with that same brand.  Oops.

At the end of the day, I think all you can do is steer clear of what you know 
has failed you, keep your disks running as cool as possible, and keep plenty 
of backups.
