Well, "more consumer-friendly" is a matter of perspective.

Wow!

I suspected Dell, HP and others to be on board -- all the
usual suspects (from DVD+RW).  But then these 2 shocked me:  
- Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic)
- Pioneer Electronics

You're talking the creators of DVD-RAM and DVD-R!

I guess Pioneer _did_ have DVD-R(A) for authoring, before
DVD-R(G) [general] came out later for consumers.  But it
clearly looks like more of a "control" move.

But Matsushita name is still bugging me.
