Oh well, just ordered a new DL NEC DVDRW from Newegg.  I'll stick that in my 
Linux box so I can burn again over NFS.  (I forgot I needed a DVD-ROM/DVD-RW 
for my gaming box to read game discs -- so used to CDs until now...)
