Yep. I don't "demonize" Microsoft. I like to explain, technically,
what they do. And why do they do it?
Because marketing is cheaper than redeveloping something proper.
They already tried once with Win32.
They have basically not even bothered with .NET.
And the result is that nearly _all_ their major Win32/.NET architects
now work at Google. Microsoft knows it has no R&D in the pot now, and
has failed at all prior attempts to shift the company to newer, better
APIs.
So it's just marketing now. And let the buyer beware.
