[Pc_Support] Xserver pan and scan?

I have an interesting phenomena happening at the moment. When GDM
starts, it is in some funky resolution. I can move my mouse to the edge
of the screen and it pans the desktop. When I log into Gnome, everything
is cool. My resolution is fine at 1280x1024. When I log into
Enlightenment, I get the same panning action.

I've checked my xorg.conf and here is the relevant stuff:

Section "Monitor"

        Monitor "NEC LCD1712"

"800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

How come Gnome can get it correct at 1280x1024?
